PPI
The Political Performance Index (PPI), the flagship project of the International Center for Public Accountability, is a rating system that evaluates how public officials are fulfilling their duties and responsibilities to their constituents. Empowering citizens to make informed decisions, the PPI enables them to become more actively involved in the political process and encourages those in government to do their jobs more effectively, honestly and efficiently.
The PPI promotes public accountability through the following objectives:
*Provide Ghanaians and global citizens with the information and tools necessary to monitor the effectiveness of their public officials.
*Empower citizens to make informed decisions about their public representation.
*Enhance the capacity of ordinary citizens to participate in decision-making processes.
*Function as a mechanism for systematic evaluation of public officials performance.
Partial results of the 2012 PPI were presented on Ghana’s TV3 and the full report was distributed to the print media. The Index is available electronically, free of charge, on the ICPA website.
